Update to TF101 review: Ice Cream Sandwich

Asus has pushed out Ice Cream Sandwich.

Full marks Asus!  Last night I switched on my Transformer only to be presented with the message that there were updates to install.  As I plugged it into the charger to ensure there was enough power to completed the update I was wondering if this was the big one.  The update to Android V4 or Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) to give it is developers name.  Answer... Yes.

As with all updates from Asus on the Transformer the file was downloaded in the background before the option to upgrade is offered.  Therefore as soon as you push the OK or install button, away it goes.  It said it would take 10 minutes and I think that is just about all it took.  Everything seems to be working and I am just exploring the new features of ICS.

Setting the screen widgets and programs is slightly different as it is done from the programs screen.  Also it is now possible to shut down the programs by bringing up the list of recent programs and flicking the ones you want to terminate off the the left.  They then disappear.  One of the other feature takes the wind out of my sails regarding the App of the Month because I was going to review App Organiser which makes folders on you background. You can now make folders by dropping one app on top of another and it puts them both into a folder that you can name.   I may still review this as it is great for those of you who still have Honeycomb.

I think that Asus is the only company that have pushed out ICS to their older tablets.  Great support of your product Asus!  Over the years I have always been impressed how they support all their products. If I find any other feature that are stunningly new I will update the blog.  For those of you with the TF101... enjoy
